Marriage

To Marry or Not

In former years, marriage and commitment were considered the same in personal relationships. A couple made a commitment to each other by getting married and building a life together. Times have changed, and couples in the modern world see things differently. They make a commitment to each other but do not always get married. Some of them believe marriage is an outdated institution. Others believe it is just a legal formality that ruins relationships. Whatever the case may be, fewer couples are getting married and opting to live together in a committed relationship.

Couples that choose to opt out of marriage are becoming more accepted every day. Parents and other family members used to shun those that lived together without marriage. Today, a wedding is truly a celebration because there are fewer of them. Couples that tie the knot have generally lived together and view their marriage as a celebration of a new chapter in the life they are building rather than a fresh start.
